BIO
I have a Bachelor of Science in Speech/Language Pathology, Master's of Education in Special Education, am Board Certified as a Behavior Analyst, Licensed in Behavior Analysis, Certified Pet Trainer from Karen Pryor Academy (taught by Terry Ryan), am a Team Facilitator for Atlas Assistance Dogs, trained and used Puppy Culture and AviDog for breeding and puppy raising, have lifetime teacher’s certificate as a substitute teacher, am a Level 2 PDA Consultant for PDANA, and am a certified yoga instructor and social/emotional learning facilitator. For the past few years I deep dove into neurodiversity and should have a doctorate just from the amount of knowledge I have absorbed and taught to others!
I have over 26 years working with neurodivergent people and their families, which include their animals. I have been training my own dogs, as well as helping people I know train their dogs to become therapy dogs for 22 years. Over the past 11 years I have helped with temperament testing, helped with raising and training pregnant dogs, helped deliver a few litters of pups, helped train and raise puppies from birth until they go to new homes, and volunteered my time with KARE to help evaluate therapy dogs. I myself have had certified therapy dogs for 22 years, who also passed CGC evaluations, and currently have a dog who I've trained to be a service dog.
My passion these past few years has been to help others who want emotional support, therapy or service dogs, but also to help people whose dogs have some behaviors they need support with, including learning what kind of puppy would best suit them and/or their family, and what tools they need to provide a solid puppy foundation.
I have two businesses:
Neurodivergent Bridges- mostly interest based social group camps and working with parents on IEP's and 504 plans or learning about Neurodiversity-Autism, ADHD, PDA, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Anxiety, PTSD, RSD, etc. Also I provide trainings and speak at conferences about inclusion and neurodiversity.
And
Pawsitive IDEAS- mostly board and train puppies, but also work with families in their homes training their dogs or helping their kids learn to train their dogs, working with neurodivergent folks who want to train their dog for emotional support or service work, and helping those that want to train their dog to be a therapy dog or pass the CGC.
